Should I Select Move-In Or Move-Out While Booking Online?
- In principle the answer is obvious; if you’re moving in to your home, apartment, etc then select “move-in” as an extra on the booking form. If you’re “moving-out” select move-out on the form. Both cleanings include the same areas being cleaned throughout the house. However, the DIFFERENCE comes down to the amount of work required to get those same spaces cleaned. With move-out cleanings, on average, taking much longer than move-outs.
If you’re moving out of a your home, apartment or condo, then you will select the move-out button on the form.
If you’re moving in to your home we will ask you a couple of questions to make a determination if it should be a move-in or move-out cleaning. Some questions are?
- Have you seen the inside of the home recently ?
- What did you see? What condition is it in? Specifically the bathrooms and kitchen.
If you answer that the place does not look like it has been cleaned, the bathrooms are dirty, the floors look bad, there’s still stuff in the kitchen cabinets, etc then we will direct you towards booking a move-out cleaning even though you’re moving-in. Get it?
If you answer that the place looks great! That there’s only a little accumulation of dust, some light foot traffic and not much else, we’ll direct you towards a move-in cleaning.
Since we do this all over the phone and we don’t do any in-person quotes, the process is not full-proof but it’s pretty good. When the cleaners arrive at the job, they’ll make an on-site evaluation and we’ll update the price of the quote based on what they see.
What's Included In The Moving Cleaning Services?
These cleaning service are designed to make a vacant home as move-in ready as possible. The cleanings will include a thorough cleaning of the bathrooms: inside the shower walls, the bathtub, the sink, mirrors, inside cabinets, toilets and floors. The kitchen will include a thorough detailing of outside surfaces: cabinets, countertops, sinks and stovetop. As well as the inside of the microwave, oven, refrigerator and cabinets. General cleaning throughout the additional living spaces consists of cobweb removal, dusting, cleaning the inside of closets and shelves, wiping baseboards, windowsills, vacuuming, sweeping and moping floors.
You will need to select the following on the list of extras to have the following areas cleaned: walls, windows, garage, patios.
How To Prepare
- Determine when you must be out of your home or when your lease ends.
- Make a list of all of the services you will need to compete prior to your move-out.
- Make sure your home is completely vacant and all other services will be completed prior to booking if possible. We understand there are lots of moving parts but this ensures a smoother process.
- Ensure the home still has power and water. House cleaning is very difficult to do if these utilities are turned off.
- Call Marching Maids or go online to get a free estimate and book a move-out cleaning.
- Make sure the cleaners can clean undisturbed for up to a full day, if needed.
- In the special instructions box on the booking form, please indicate how your professional housekeeper is to enter the property.

This is for someone with a completely vacant home that would like to make it move-in ready for the next tenant.
A move-out cleaning requires much more time, effort, scrubbing, etc to make the house move-in ready. Whereas a move-in cleaning is usually a lot less labor intensive. However, the same areas of the home are cleaned.
That’s a really difficult thing to do. Namely because judging the outcome is subjective to a certain degree. Our recommendation is you have the person responsible for giving you your deposit back like the property manager, landlord, apartment manager, etc there to do a walk-through with the cleaners before they leave. That way the cleaners can answer any questions or reclean something before they leave.
